The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the June/July 2026 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations.
According to the examination board, 79,503 candidates, representing 81.24 per cent of the 97,863 candidates whose results were graded, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
The results were announced on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, by NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Mohammed, during a press conference in Benin City, Edo State.
NABTEB Records Improvement in 2026 Results
The 2026 NABTEB results show a significant improvement compared with the previous examination cycle.
In 2025, 61,104 candidates, representing 68.18 per cent, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
The latest figure of 81.24 per cent therefore represents a considerable increase in the number of candidates meeting the five-credit benchmark with the two key subjects included.
Dr Mohammed described the improvement as encouraging, attributing the better performance to the combined efforts of candidates, teachers, schools, parents and other stakeholders in the education sector.
91.53% Obtained Five Credits and Above
NABTEB also disclosed that 89,580 candidates, representing 91.53 per cent of those whose results were graded, obtained five credits and above, whether or not English Language and Mathematics were included.
This figure was also higher than the 83.28 per cent recorded in the 2025 examination.
The results indicate an overall improvement in the performance of candidates who participated in the 2026 NABTEB examinations.
Over 100,000 Candidates Registered
According to NABTEB, a total of 100,069 candidates registered for the 2026 examinations, while 97,867 candidates eventually sat for the examinations.
This represented an attendance rate of 97.80 per cent.
The number of candidates who registered also increased compared with 2025, when 92,876 candidates registered for the examinations.
The increase of more than 7,000 registered candidates suggests growing participation in Nigeria’s business and technical education programmes.
24,128 Candidates Certified as Craftsmen
The NABTEB registrar further revealed that 24,128 candidates, representing 24.65 per cent of those whose results were graded, were certified as craftsmen.
The development is significant because NABTEB’s examinations are designed to assess both academic knowledge and practical technical and vocational skills.
The board has continued to emphasise the importance of technical and vocational education in developing practical skills and improving employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
Examination Malpractice
NABTEB also provided an update on examination malpractice during the 2026 examinations.
A total of 847 candidates were reportedly involved in 1,554 cases of examination malpractice.
The registrar said the figure was lower than that recorded in 2025, attributing the decline to measures introduced by the board to curb examination malpractice.
The board has continued to warn candidates against examination misconduct and other attempts to obtain results through dishonest means.
NABTEB Urges Candidates to Check Results Through Official Platform
Following the release of the 2026 NABTEB results, candidates have been advised to use the board’s official result-checking platform when accessing their results.
Dr Mohammed also warned candidates against fraudsters who claim they can change, upgrade or manipulate examination results.
He stressed that no individual has the authority to alter a candidate’s legitimately awarded result.
Candidates are therefore advised to be cautious when dealing with individuals who promise to improve examination results in exchange for money.
NABTEB 2026 Results
The release of the June/July 2026 NABTEB results provides candidates with an opportunity to assess their performance and plan their next academic or career steps.
Candidates who obtained the required credits may use their results for further education, employment or other opportunities for which the qualifications are accepted.
The strong improvement in the number of candidates who obtained five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, is also a positive development for Nigeria’s technical and vocational education sector.
With 81.24 per cent of graded candidates meeting the five-credit benchmark with English and Mathematics, the 2026 NABTEB examination recorded a much better performance than the previous year.
The board has meanwhile continued to stress the importance of technical education, practical skills and examination integrity as part of efforts to equip Nigerians with relevant skills for the future.
