The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a 22-year-old man identified as Daniel over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Ogun State.
According to a report by Daily Post, the suspect was arrested after he allegedly gave the teenager a malt drink that caused her to lose consciousness before allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday.
Police Arrest Suspect
The police said Daniel was taken into custody in connection with the alleged incident involving the 15-year-old girl.
Authorities said the teenager was allegedly made unconscious after consuming the drink before the reported assault occurred.
The police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident or the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
Victim Taken for Medical Examination
Following the incident, the teenager was reportedly taken to the Olukoye Ransome-Kuti Memorial Hospital in Asero for medical examination.
The examination is expected to assist investigators as they work to establish the facts surrounding the allegation.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Investigation Underway
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation.
